My social media journey from the start

When I first got onto social media, we were not exactly the best of friends. I really did not want to do it. It started with Facebook when my best friend managed to convince me to sign up on Facebook. That was in November 2007. Initially all I did was play games and that sort of thing, not really doing much. I would also be basically putting information up. That sort of thing. When I originally started putting up my jewellery up on Facebook, I had created an album on my personal page and that did allow things to really start taking off for me. In August 2018, I created the business page and really wanted to get the message out about my brand and what I created and still create and sell. At the start of that, I was constantly posting up pictures of the pieces and doing that and telling you about what I sell and getting the word out about the page, I then started sharing my posts among the community groups and that allowed it to grow further.
Eventually I started showing how to pair the beaded pieces that I make with everyday gold and silver and how to combine it. I even put up ideas with all the different outfits and that was another step in the right direction. Nowadays I share my everyday activities and depending on the time of the week, that is also allowing for further growth and the following is just increasing by itself I even put videos up of my daily activities and how I go about my day
As time went on I started using it more and started putting up photos and videos, nothing really special but I think that was when the storyteller in me started to come out. Since then I have gotten onto WhatsApp, that was in January 2015, which I cannot get enough of now and prefer to use it as a means of communication due to the fact that it is so cost effective, everyday I put up photos and videos on my status and it makes it so much easier to get hold of everyone and I am on a whole lot of groups with friends and family members so that I am always informed of what is going on with everyone and Instagram is another one that I initially only used when I felt like putting something on and showing you basically what I do with my friends and family. Soon after I created the business Facebook page (Blaze Designs is the main page, with a secondary page connected to Instagram (Blaze_designs)), I started using my Instagram for the same thing and all of this has really helped me to get word out about my personal brand which is represented by the style of the pieces I create.
Then March 2019 rolled around and I decided to create the website, which this blog is a part of and turn it into an online store to sell everything online. Check it out and get all your favourites couriered to you or you can collect from me directly. This was in line with the trend of people rather reverting to online shopping instead of fighting the malls and traffic to buy things. The whole point is that it can be delivered to you and it puts less stress on your head.
The most recent addition to my online and social media presence was to sign up on LinkedIn (search for Helen Sellick) and that page is performing quite well at the moment probably the best in terms of following and audience, from the time I was able to I even started sharing these posts to LinkedIn and alot of them have performed really well and also get noticed on Facebook which is great.
In August 2019, I signed up on Reddit (helens0325) and Tumblr (lovehelen0325) and Tumblr is really starting to take off and I am now starting to get the hang of Reddit and how that works so hopefully that will start to show some real improvement soon, I just have to get used to the nature of my posts and putting them up on a regular basis and in the right places. I have found where to put it so I will be adding to that this year alot more.
I was initially very hesitant to use any of these platforms because of the fact that I was so self-conscious of how people would respond to anything that I put up and since I really found my confidence I put up as much as I can and tell the story of my journey a whole lot more and that is because I now feel strong enough to get my whole life story out into the open. I am loving the social journey that I am on nowadays and love how people respond to it. Its amazing.
When I started posting on the blog and telling you all of this, starting with the story of the brand and then deciding to get personal here, it has brought me to this point. I am so glad that I have now found the confidence to tell my story in this way because I have helped me to grow so much as a person.
I love the person that I have become courtesy of my social media journey. It has allowed me to tell things in such a way that I enjoy, I have always been a storyteller of some kind through art etc and this has just made it that much more fun.
I am currently contemplating adding this onto Twitter as well so watch this space and once I do sign up on there I will let you know where you can follow me. Another thing I am also considering is writing a book about my life, I feel like I have a very interesting story to tell and I want more and more people to know about it in as many formats as possible.
My family used to get so upset with me because I spent so much time on social media and now that they are on there as well, they can't get enough of it. They have discovered like I did, that this is a very effective way of keeping in touch with family members that we don't see all the time but at least we know what is going on with them and their lives.
Well, until next time, see y'all soon
