This is something that I am very proud to do because my name has a very special and historical origin. It dates back to the time of ancient Greece, it means shining light and the origin in Ancient Greek history is from none other than Helen of Troy. Yes, the very same girl who ran away from her husband in Sparta to be with Paris, prince of Troy. This is the same face that launched a thousand ships and sparked the Trojan War between Troy and Sparta. A war which Troy lost because Priam didn't listen to Paris when he told him to destroy the Horse holding everyone inside.
Read the book "Helen of Troy" by Margaret George. Its a fascinated and well written book that takes the story into full detail about her childhood and her life. Its very intriguing.
We all have a unique meaning behind our names, if you don't know what the meaning is of your own, look it up, each of us has a meaning behind it and once we know what that meaning is then it gives us a sense of purpose like it has for me.
Ever since I learnt what my name means it has given me such a clear path in which to build my life and I wear the meaning of my name very proudly. It has also brought a lot of sense to why my life has always been the way that it has, it has allowed for so many things to make sense.
So many people have told me that I have taught them alot about themselves and that they have learnt alot from me. Some of them have taken longer to learn those lessons than others and others have argued against everything I teach them until they learn those lessons the hard way.
That little bitch called Karma always rears her head and that is when lessons are learnt too late for many people. Living up to the meaning of your name is not a bad thing, it can actually be a good thing if you have ever struggled to make sense of your life and all the events that have taken place within your life. Especially if you know in your heart of hearts that you are not a bad person at all.
I faced this very problem growing up especially with all the bullying sand degradation. If I did well in something, the last thing I got was recognition from my class and school mates. It was actually really hurtful because I was not expecting to be recognised at all, my achievements were only recognised by my family. I have never been considered stupid or anything like that. It has actually been shown that I have a photographic memory and I absorb and learn things very easily. I think that was probably why I was always given such a hard time because it appeared so easy for me.
There is that old expression "Jealousy makes you nasty, nasty makes you ugly and ugly makes you fat" I think that was all it was at the end of the day, pure jealousy. Oh well, that is their problem not mine.
There is another expression I live by "not my circus, not my monkeys, not my problem", anyone that ever did give me trouble had much bigger problems of their own and alot of them to this day refuse to face them and then they wonder why their lives are the way that they are.
Be proud of your name, who you are and what you are about. It will make all the difference and you will live a much healthier, happier and more prosperous life in the long run. Live up to that badge that comes with your name and wear that badge with pride just like I do.
