Lessons learned during lockdown

We just got an address by our president who had a lot of good news and they are now trying to get us back up and running financially. We will know in two days time how the restrictions that have been on us for almost four weeks now will be lifted and how the country will be re-entering the world. Makes me really glad that things will be eased up.

Now the reason I want to talk about this today is because for many people especially if you happen to be extroverted and have trouble staying indoors for extended periods. Extroverts struggle with staying indoors and have probably gotten heavily depressed over the last few weeks because they haven't had a social life and seen their friends and family members. Introverts don't really have this problem so this was fairly easy for them, not a complete walk in the park but they prefer to be at home most of the time and only go out if they have to.

The first thing is to take things one and a time. Especially taking things one day at a time. It is harder for extroverted people compared to introverted people who don't mind the idea of staying at home as that is a thing that they prefer.

I for one am a mixture of both but I am more introverted and basically had planned on doing particular things and getting the big stuff out of the way. So it has been very easy for me. The only thing I have missed terribly is to be able to go for my walks and my running. Otherwise I have been doing yoga and meditating to keep myself fit and healthy. There is always a way to stay fit.

That was the second thing. Find alternative ways to exercise and stay fit during this time indoors. Generally I do a bit of exercise combined with my walking and running so I had a back up in place should I have to stay indoors if it was raining too heavily or too cold to go outside. We are going into winter now so getting into a routine which you can use indoors gets you into the habit of exercising at home.

Another one is learning to appreciate the little things in life and to be grateful for what you have, so practice gratitude. Most of us have so much to be thankful for and we actually have more than those that live on the strets and don't make enough and have to scrape together whatever they can find to just survive every single day. You really learn to appreciate the necessities and do go without the luxuries that come with our everyday and social lives.

So, for now, let's get on to the usual story with our #ootd from the last two days,

Here is yesterday:

Now for today:

Of course, we have to remember the stars of the show. Here is yesterday's

And today's

Combined together, they look like this. Yesterday:

Today:

And of course, the weather has been playing so nicely the last couple of days, yesterday was a bit misty but at least dry:

Today was much better:

OK so back to the lessons learned and I left this one for the end. One thing that almost all of us have had to learn to do is to slow the hell down. We live in such a fast-paced environment that we don't realise how much beauty we are surrounded by in this world. Having to slow down forces you to stop and take stock of life and what you have in this world instead of chasing something that may not last in the long run. You really do learn to appreciate the little things and the things that matter the most.

Parents that work all the time and feel guilty about having to work such long hours and then come home after the kids are in bed. You get to see what you miss out on where your kids are concerned.

So much happens in our lives that we don't notice when we are always on the go.

I have enjoyed being at home and being able to relax a bit more than usual. I normally work from home, I have just disliked being locked indoors. I have been out my gate once since we went into lockdown, that is almost four weeks. I can't wait to feel the wind in my hair and to see the gorgeous views again. It will be amazing to see.

Well, that's a wrap for the time being, so I will see y'all soon

Happy Tuesday
