This is the time of the year where we wind down and start preparing to spend the day with those we love and are closest to us. These are people that we should cherish every single day that they are in our lives and show them how much they really mean to us.
Christmas is a time of giving and appreciating what we have in our lives. It only comes around once a year and for most of us it is a day of celebration of the birth of Christ, the son of our Lord and Heavenly Father. It is to honour his life and to learn the lessons that he taught us about living a simple, humble life and being grateful for the little things and blessings bestowed upon us.
That is what Christmas is about. That is how it really came about. The gifts that we receive are given as a reward for a year that went well. Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, not Santa Claus. People forget that things are more about family and being grateful for what you have, not showing off because as the years go by all the material things don't matter as much and the little things start to be more important, they should actually be important every day of our lives.
Every year I see more and more parents giving in to their children's selfish material demands instead of teaching them what the true meaning of Christmas is, this is how we have all ended up with a generation of spoilt little brats. I was taught from an early age what this time of year was really about and as i have gotten older I have learnt to appreciate the little things that the things that mean something in our lives.
Teach your children and future generations what this time of year truly means. It is so important for us to remember that material things mean nothing in the long run. It is about the little things that money cannot buy. Hopefully that way we can have a more grateful generation of leaders who can stand up and say that we must do something show the true meaning of love and kindness and gratitude.
