Doing the things you love

This is something that many people seem to struggle with especially when choosing a career path. We all have a passion for something and many are afraid to follow it because somebody else is doing their level best to tell us what we should be doing with our lives. At the end of the day, the decision is yours.

For many years, I head people telling me what I should be doing and then I found something worthwhile that got suggested to me and now I have it as a business. Yes, that business is Blaze Designs, my beautiful jewellery range and custom brand for standing out from the crowd.

I have had many people try and tell me what to do. What they don't realise is that I have a photographic memory and learn things in my life from observation, so when you are yelling at me to do something in particular, you are not helping, you are actually distracting me.

I learnt to do craft type things from watching others, my mom used to sew all my clothes when i was a child and my grandfathers both used to make things. My grandmothers used to both bake a lot, the last remaining grandmother still does. They all thoroughly enjoyed it.

So when I make things like the beautiful necklace that I am wearing with today's #ootd, the only necklace of its kind that cannot be bought in that style anywhere else other than from me. In the store at www.blaze-designsza.com, my personally created online store, yes, I created the entire store and site myself so that you could buy it online and pick it up in person or have it couriered to you if you live outside of the city.

I also love putting together outfits that people don't expect me to wear, and i put them together that way because I am comfortable dressing this way. Today's look is no different

See what I mean about the necklace, that is the actual length. It is very long. Worn at full length, it reaches down to my waist. That is why it can be doubled up to two loops if necessary.

I also have my passion for nature and love the views around me. You can see the whole city from where I live.

In the distance, you can see the entire Johannesburg skyline and the advantage of working from home is I get to see it every day. Love my life, love where I live and I love what I do.

So, if you really want to follow your passion, then do that. It makes no difference what it is, if it's something crafty like design work of any kind or working with computers or machinery, then follow your passion and do not let anybody tell you otherwise. Do what makes you happy. This makes me happy.

Some people even love online trading and that sort of thing. A friend of mine is a really talented graphic designer, he has amazing skills and I hope he finds the courage to follow this full-time because he will make a fortune from doing so. He is that talented.

I really hope that more people follow something that really gives them energy to just keep going and to follow their hearts and follow a passion that gives them the drive to get up every morning and continuously hone their skills to perfection. We are all born with unique and special talents that we want to show to the world, if you find yourself in that position then go for it. Put every fibre of our being into it and never give up on your dreams.

Pursue your dreams, follow your passion and pour your heart and soul into it to make it work. I did and I am loving every second of it.
