Be thankful for friends and family

This is one thing that I am extremely thankful for following the attack. The next day was when things really started to sink and I started to feel the effects of the pain that I was in and believe me that pain was excruciating. I have never felt so sore in my life. To see the look of my wounds the next morning was a real eye opener and I would never wish that level of pain on anybody.
The one thing that saved me from landing up in the hospital after what happened was the fact that I had put Vaseline on my legs that morning which had reduced the level of infection to zero. I had avoided the hospital and stitches by a hair's breadth.
My brother had wanted to come home from work once he had been told but was told by my mom to stay there as he would see me when he got home. My mom had gone to pick him up and when he came home he tried to get me to lie down and rest. The more important thing was that I had to start moving around on my own as soon as possible to ease the stiffness in my body which was not easy as my feet were also bandaged. Shortly thereafter my mom took me home and put me in my own bed to rest up.
I discovered that while I was sleeping in my own bed or at least trying to given the level of pain I was in, a very good friend of mine who lives two streets up from where I live now was being attacked in her own home, she was beaten up and her attacker had grabbed her laptop which was recovered around the corner. The funny thing was how her attacker, a grown man managed to get through cottage pane style burglar bars and beat her up and get out the same way. Thankfully her security company are only one street away were able to catch the guy.
She has also since recovered from her ordeal and we look out for one another alot more. We can both count our lucky stars that we have the friends and family that we do because it has pulled us through alot.
I am actually writing this on the same laptop that my attackers tried to take from me. My recovery now truly begins since speaking out and telling my story.
